Seven queries in three families. They are reported separately because they behave nothing alike.

“Out of window” means the item was not in our most recent read of that query. It is a property of a recency-ranked, capped result set — not a deletion, and not a claim that the item is gone from its source.

What this archive is, exactly. Once a day we run seven fixed public queries and seal what each one returned. Every one of them is recency-ranked and capped — the forum search hands back 50 items per read, the news feeds returned 5–16, the docket searches 1–16. So this is a record of what those queries showed on each date, not a catalogue of incidents. An item missing from our newest seal was pushed out of a ranking by newer items; it was not deleted by anyone, and we make no claim that it is gone from its source.

Google News RSS is not read at all: its robots.txt disallows it to us. That is a boundary we keep, not a gap in the news.
