- The federal Hazardous Materials Table holds 3 rows for UN3265, and all 3 are printed above with every one of the 14 columns — nothing is cut. 49 CFR 172.101
- This page counts 17 lines: the 3 table rows above and the 14-line column glossary below them.
- 2 of those 3 rows are packing groups whose symbol, shipping name, class and number the printed table leaves blank and carries down from the row above. We filled them in so each row stands on its own; the table did not repeat them.
- Column 6 asks for label code 8 (Corrosive). The names come from the Label Substitution Table printed in § 172.101 itself, not from us. source
- Column 8A points at § 173.154 — what that section says is on the paid worksheet. The section numbers are printed above; their words are not.
- The table is a US Government work published by the Office of the Federal Register in the eCFR, in the public domain under 17 U.S.C. 105. We copied the row; we did not write it.

This is the table entry itself, copied from the eCFR's own XML of § 172.101 and printed whole.

| Column | What it means |
|---|---|
| Symbols (1) | Letters that change how the row is read. “A” means the entry only applies to air shipments, “D” that the name suits domestic shipments, “G” that you must add a technical name, “I” that it comes from the international list, “W” that it applies to water only, and “+” that the name, class and packing group are fixed as printed. |
| Proper shipping name and description (2) | The name the shipment must be described by. An entry reading “see …” is a pointer to the entry you should actually use. |
| Hazard class or division (3) | The kind of danger: 3 is a flammable liquid, 8 corrosive, 9 miscellaneous, and so on. “Forbidden” means the material may not be offered at all. |
| Identification number (4) | The UN, NA or ID number that goes on the package and on the shipping paper. |
| Packing group (5) | How dangerous the material is within its class: I is the worst, III the least. It drives which packagings you may use. |
| Label codes (6) | Which hazard labels the package must carry, by code. The first code is the primary hazard; any others are subsidiary. |
| Special provisions (7) | Codes that add to, or except you from, the normal rules. Their words are printed at 49 CFR 172.102. |
| Exceptions — packaging (8A) | The section of 49 CFR Part 173 that may let you out of the full rules, for example as a limited quantity. “None” means there is no exception. |
| Non-bulk packaging (8B) | The Part 173 section that says which non-bulk packagings are authorised. |
| Bulk packaging (8C) | The Part 173 section that says which bulk packagings are authorised. |
| Passenger aircraft or rail limit (9A) | The most you may put in one package on a passenger aircraft or a passenger railcar. “Forbidden” means it may not go that way at all. |
| Cargo aircraft only limit (9B) | The most you may put in one package on a cargo-only aircraft. |
| Vessel stowage location (10A) | Where the package may be stowed on a ship: A on deck or under deck, B, C, D and E are progressively more restricted. |
| Vessel stowage other (10B) | Extra stowage conditions on a ship, by code, printed at 49 CFR 176.84. |
What this page cannot tell you
- Road only. The air rulebook (IATA) and the sea rulebook (IMDG) are copyrighted and are not summarised anywhere on this site, and carrier rules and state rules are not included.
- This page is not a shipping paper and it is not a decision about your shipment. A trained shipper checks the material and certifies the shipment; nothing here does that for you.
- The words of the special provisions in column 7, of the exception section in column 8A and of the packaging sections in 8B and 8C are not printed on this page. They are the $49 worksheet.
- The table is amended through the year. This page was built from the edition dated 2026-09-03, and says so at the top of every table.
- A shipping name that reads “see …” is the table's own pointer to a different entry. The description for it is printed at that other entry, not at this one.
See the file before you pay
You do not have to take our word for what is in the file. Here are 25 rows of the real thing, carrying all 14 of its columns, cut out of the dated copies we sealed ourselves. Nothing in it is made up and nothing in it is tidied up.
- Open the 25 rows as a CSVA plain spreadsheet file. It saves to your machine rather than painting itself into a browser tab, and it opens in Excel, Numbers or Google Sheets.
- The same 25 rows as JSONThe same rows again, laid out for reading with code.
What arrives after you pay: a single private web page for the UN number you name — every table row, the 8A exceptions explained, the 8B and 8C packaging sections, quantity limits, vessel stowage codes and label artwork proofs — within 15 minutes of payment.
What you would be paying for: $49 once, for one road-shipping worksheet covering the single UN number you name at checkout. Nothing recurring, nothing to cancel and no subscription behind it. You get one private web page with every Hazardous Materials Table row for that number, the exceptions in column 8A explained section by section, the packaging sections in columns 8B and 8C with their headings and first paragraph, the quantity limits and vessel stowage codes with a glossary, and label artwork proofs drawn from the measurements the rule itself states. The worksheet is for road transport in the United States only: the air and sea rulebooks are copyrighted and are not summarised here, and carrier and state rules are not included. A label artwork proof is not a compliant label, and the worksheet is not a shipping paper — a trained shipper checks and certifies the shipment. The federal table is amended through the year and the page carries the date of the text it was built from. Not legal or professional advice. Refund on request within 14 days. There is no pay button on this page yet. The private page is delivered within 15 minutes of payment. Still not here after 15 minutes? Reply to your Stripe receipt.
These 25 rows are a slice of the file, not the whole of it. What we cannot show you here is how far back it goes: that is the part you are paying for.
