The command-line tool

A Python 3.10+ download you unzip and run locally. No pip packages, no API key, and no internet connection for the calculation. No account.

A branded HTML shortage report

Each finished run writes a reviewable HTML report plus a JSON summary with an input hash. CSV files list filled units, leftover stock, and extra components still needed.

Synthetic examples in the zip

Worked JSON and three-CSV examples ship in the download. Use them first. Then replace the rows with your own stock, bills of materials, and orders.

How it works

  1. 1. Unzip the download.

    Extract the zip and open a terminal in the kitclear-offline folder. Python 3.10 or newer is required.

  2. 2. Point at your three CSVs.

    Keep these filenames and columns: stock.csv (component, on_hand, reserved), boms.csv (sku, component, units), orders.csv (order_id, sku, quantity, priority). UTF-8. Start from the copies in examples/csv.

  3. 3. Run one command.

    python3 kitclear_cli.py --csv-dir examples/csv --partial yes --output csv-result — or --partial no so a kit is filled completely or left unfilled. JSON input is also supported.

  4. 4. Open the report.

    Open report.html in a browser. A finished run also writes CSV tables, allocation.json, and a COMPLETE.json marker. Existing output folders are never overwritten.

What KitClear does on your machine

  • Priority kit allocationOrders are filled from highest numeric priority to lowest. When two orders share a priority, the tool keeps the order they were listed in.
  • Partial or whole ordersYou set partial fulfillment to true or false. Partial mode fills as many units as stock allows. Whole-order mode fills an order completely or leaves it unfilled, then moves on.
  • Reserved stock stays outReserved quantities are subtracted before allocation. They are not assigned to the orders in this run.
  • Shortage list, not a purchase orderThe packet lists extra components still needed for every unfilled unit. That figure is a mathematical shortage for review, not a purchase order.
  • HTML, CSV, and JSON packetA finished run writes an HTML report, orders and materials CSV files, JSON evidence with an input hash, and a COMPLETE marker. Existing output folders are never overwritten.
  • Spreadsheet-safe CSVCSV exports put an apostrophe in front of formula-like identifiers so a spreadsheet does not treat them as formulas. JSON keeps the original identifiers.
  • Documented size limitsThe engine accepts 1 to 100 orders, 1 to 2,000 stock components, and 1 to 200 products, with up to 100 components per bill of materials. Larger or malformed input is refused before a result folder is created.
  • No network in the runThe command-line tool performs no telemetry, license check, or upload. Calculation stays on the machine that runs it.

Example, not a testimonial

Example, not a testimonial: An operations lead at a small sensor assembler exports stock, bills of materials, and today's build list from the system they already use. They run KitClear on that snapshot and see the high-priority order filled, the next order only in part, and the last order still short. They review the shortage list before anyone starts packing.

The zip's synthetic example is labelled as synthetic. Expected filled units on that sample: ORDER-A 6, ORDER-B 2, ORDER-C 0. Those numbers are from the included sample, not from a live shop.

What it is not

It is not an Excel add-in, warehouse system, ERP, purchasing tool, or live inventory feed. It is not a global optimizer. It does not substitute parts, schedule labour, or write back to your systems. Single location and integer units only. This is a snapshot calculation; rerun with a new input snapshot when inventory or orders change.

How do refunds work?

Which browsers and operating systems does it use?

The calculation is a Python 3.10+ command-line tool. This release was tested on Linux with Python 3.12. Windows and macOS commands are printed in the README and have not been tested on those systems. The HTML report opens in a browser from a local file. When viewed online it may request the USTA Satoshi font; that request does not send stock or order records. Offline, a system font is used.

Do I get updates?

This Gumroad purchase is this version, one time. It is not a custom-integration retainer and not a hosted subscription. The README does not include a future-update subscription. The AppSumo lifetime deal, when it is live, covers all future updates of this version line for one person.

What happens to my stock and order files?

Calculation runs locally with no telemetry and no license checks in the download. Your files stay on the machine that runs the command. Do not email confidential inventory to support. See the privacy notice.
