TreadleForge Constrained Treadle Synthesis
Source: this release’s synthetic input → 7 output files. Observed 2026-09-08. Coverage: one example within the supported profile.
TreadleForge converts a liftplan for a rising-shed shaft loom into an equivalent tie-up and treadling sequence. It targets looms with up to eight shafts and eight treadles and performs a bounded exact search for a minimum-treadle solution that reproduces the same fabric. The result is a WIF-style draft you can review, but you should always check it against your actual loom's shaft and treadle limits before threading.

Load the synthetic example to explore the format, or choose your own supported JSON file. Processing happens on this device. Your input is not uploaded. The first run downloads the processing engine.
Keep your original source. Unsupported inputs return an explanation. These workflows implement the stated mathematical or file-format checks; they do not establish physical performance, language quality or real-world reliability.

A repeatable input-to-output workflow
Provide your liftplan and loom constraints as JSON, within the eight-shaft and eight-treadle bounds.
The tool runs a bounded exact search for a tie-up and treadling that reproduce the liftplan using the fewest treadles.
You download the resulting draft and verify it against your loom before weaving.
What you receive
- Equivalent tie-up matrix
- Treadling sequence using the minimum treadles found
- A WIF-style draft for review
Supported scope and limits
- Rising-shed shaft looms only, up to eight shafts and eight treadles
- Drafts must be checked against your actual loom limits
- No live loom control or hardware connection
- Search is bounded; inputs beyond the declared size are rejected
Read the exact input profile and examples. Start with the supplied template; this release does not guess missing settings.

Before you start
Will it drive my loom?
No. It produces a draft for you to review and thread yourself; there is no loom control.
Is the treadle count truly minimal?
Within the declared eight-by-eight bounds it performs an exact search for a minimum-treadle solution.
