What this page cannot tell you
- 40,812 of the 84,273 permits on the newest copy have no trading name. The government's own file leaves that box empty, so we cannot fill it. Those rows carry the permit number and the town and say the name is missing, rather than showing an empty cell as though it were a name.
- A permit dropping off means it was on one dated copy and not on the next one. That is all it means. It is not proof that TTB revoked the permit, and it is not proof that the business closed: the government's file carries no issue date, no expiry date and no status, so nobody reading it can tell you why a row left, and we will not guess. We sealed our first copy on 8 Aug 2026, so anything that moved before that date is not in what we hold.
- Not in the government's file at all: American Samoa, Guam, Northern Mariana Islands and US Virgin Islands. It lists 4 trades and no others, so breweries and retailers are not in this feed. It carries no owner names, no street addresses and no phone numbers either, so neither do we.
- A permit is placed in a state by the address on its own row. Only when a row has no address at all do we fall back to the state letters at the front of the permit number. Town and county names arrive from the government in capital letters. We print them in ordinary mixed case. Nothing else about a row is changed.
- We have read this file 4 times: 8 Aug 2026, 11 Aug 2026, 19 Aug 2026 and 25 Aug 2026. That is not enough to know how often it changes, so the 7-day figure on this page is what we promise to send you, not a rhythm we measured. Everything above is one of those copies compared with another.
