What this feed is
Public price pages get edited quietly. Once the new page is up, the open web no longer shows what the old one said, and an argument about what a competitor used to charge has nothing behind it.
The paid file is the dated comparison: what a vendor’s public price page said before, what it says now, and when it changed. It is a repeating file for many buyers, not a one-off job for a single client.
Why we are not selling this yet
Our change detector is wrong, and that is why this is not for sale. It compares a fingerprint of the whole web page rather than the price numbers on it. Menus, banners, session tokens and timestamps all move, so it reports that dozens of pricing pages change every single day. They do not. If we shipped that file you would be paying for noise.
We are not going to paper over it by picking the changes that look real. The fix is to read the price numbers themselves, and until that is done this page stays a holding page. The research archive behind it is live at /permits/pricing-archive.
What the public sample must show before we sell this hard
Described in words, because we will not paste an example row we do not hold. When the sample lands, this page will carry:
- A named vendorThe company whose public price page changed, named in full.
- Two hashesA hash is a short fingerprint of a file. Two of them let you check that the before copy and the after copy are the ones we say they are.
- The date on each copyBoth dates in the open, so the window is checkable.
Until a named vendor and two hashes are on this page, this is a holding page.
What we already hold
The research archive, already live and public at /permits/pricing-archive. What it is not is a dated before-and-after for a named vendor, which is the thing this page would sell.
