New business filings

A brand new company is a buyer before anyone has sold to it. We walk the filing register on a schedule and keep every name, so you get the ones that are new since your last file.

Public sampleChicago · recorded 22 Aug 2026 · 25 filings, 23 distinct company names

On 22 Aug 2026 we recorded 25 filings in the Chicago register, covering 23 distinct company names. 20 of those names had never appeared in this feed before. The register itself will show you a company if you already know its name. It will not hand you the ones that turned up since you last looked.

9 shown of 23 names. Three more rows from that day are deliberately not here, and the next section says exactly which and why.

What is not in the table above, and why

AGUILAR CONSULTING SERVICES LLC — already in our data from 25 July 2026, so not new.

MARIA PEREZ RODAS — a person filing under their own name, left out on purpose.

CESAR ANTONIO TOSTADO — a person filing under their own name, left out on purpose.

Those three reasons are about the table above, which shows 9 of that day’s 23 names. Not one of them is a claim about the file you can download.

What we do about people is narrower than it sounds. Every address we print is cut back to the street, so a flat or unit number never appears. We hold a whole row back only when it is a person’s own name and the address on it carries that flat or unit number. The free sample file below carries no address column at all, and names filed by people are in it.

How this one is actually built

Most feeds here compare two dated copies. This one does not. We walk the register on a schedule and keep one permanent row per filing, so what you get is everything recorded since your last file, not a diff between two snapshots.

We are telling you this because an earlier draft of this page got it wrong. It described the sample as 21 Aug 2026 versus 22 Aug 2026. A re-count on 22 August 2026 showed there is no separate earlier copy to compare against, so that sentence could not have been true. The numbers above are the re-counted ones.

Which metros we hold

The table above is Chicago. We also hold Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York City. The free sample file below is a slice across the metros we hold rather than one metro, so do not read it as the Chicago file. Ask for the metro you actually lend or sell into and we will tell you what we hold for it before you pay, not after.

The filing register does not carry an industry code. What it does carry is the city’s own words for the trade, and that is a column in the file below. It is filled in on most rows and blank on some, because the source leaves it blank, not because we dropped it. If you need a proper business type, say so and we will tell you honestly whether we can get it.

Doing this yourself

State business registries let you look up a company. They do not hand you a list of what was filed since the last time you looked.

To get that you would have to walk the register on a schedule and keep your own record each time, then work out which names are new. The register will not tell you.

What you get

  • Every company name recorded since your last fileName, city, and the date it was filed.
  • Flagged if we have seen the name beforeSo a re-filing does not read as a new business.
  • One metro you nameNot a national dump you have to filter.
  • Cancel any month by emailNo account to close, no notice period.

How it works

  1. You email us and name the metro.
  2. We tell you what we hold for it and it costs nothing to ask.
  3. A person emails you the new-names file, and names anything we could not collect.

See the file we hold

You do not have to take our word for what is in the file. Here are 25 rows of the real thing, carrying all 7 of its columns, cut out of the dated copies we sealed ourselves. Nothing in it is made up and nothing in it is tidied up.

  • Open the 25 rows as a CSVA plain spreadsheet file. It saves to your machine rather than painting itself into a browser tab, and it opens in Excel, Numbers or Google Sheets.
  • The same 25 rows as JSONThe same rows again, laid out for reading with code.

Nothing on this page is for sale. The sample file is free to read, and so is every row on the page above it.

These 25 rows are a slice of the file, not the whole of it. What we cannot show you here is how far back it goes: the file goes back further than these rows do.
