Gong Revenue Harness [What It Changes]

Sep 2, 2026

TL;DR

  • Gong Revenue Harness is Gong's agentic execution layer: it governs, orchestrates, and connects AI agents across the revenue cycle, introduced 24 June 2026 under Mission Big Dipper.

  • Custom Agents let a RevOps leader or sales manager describe a workflow in plain language and deploy a governed agent without engineering; Gong says that capability is generally available the same month.

  • This is a Gong-only harness, not a cross-vendor protocol. "Industry-first" is Gong's label.

  • A two-truck HVAC shop, a 10-person agency, or a solo clinic should care when stalled quotes and renewal risk sit in a CRM until someone with a developer writes the chase.

According to NFIB, 44% of small businesses cite time-management. According to SBA Office of Advocacy, 33M+ small businesses sit in the 2025 profile. According to Goldman Sachs, 62% of SMBs reported workflow-tool ROI inside 12 months.

Key Takeaways

  • The Harness sits on Gong's Revenue AI OS and inherits existing Gong permissions, scoped data, audit trail, and configurable human oversight.

  • Custom Agents are GA as of the June launch month; Gong Assistant in Account Console and Dry Run are dated for July 2026.

  • Gong reports more than 5,000 companies, ARR above $500 million, and over 55% year-over-year growth as of 12 May 2026. Those are vendor figures.

  • SalesTech Edition independently dated the 24 June launch, the no-engineer Custom Agents claim, and the July follow-ons.

  • A shop that does not run Gong cannot buy "Revenue Harness" as a generic agent builder.

What Gong Revenue Harness is, in one sentence

Gong Revenue Harness is the agentic execution layer inside Gong that governs how custom and pre-built revenue agents plan, act, coordinate, and hand off to humans across the sales cycle. That is the entity. It is not Salesforce Agentforce, not a public protocol, and not a claim that every small shop should rip out its CRM.

A two-truck HVAC company already knows the failure. A $12,000 install quote goes quiet on Friday; nobody flags it until Tuesday's pipeline meeting. A 10-person marketing agency loses the same way when a retainer renewal sits in HubSpot with no Monday alert. A solo clinic loses the same way when a high-value treatment plan has no one watching the risk signals. Gong's June 2026 bet is that a RevOps person can describe that watch in English and get a governed agent, if they already live in Gong.

Agencies already comparing Plutio alternatives or marketing-agency automation tools are asking a related question: is the chase inside the sales system of record, or in a separate bot? Revenue Harness only runs if Gong is that system.

Why a small operator should care before the deep dive

According to the SBA Office of Advocacy, the United States contains 36.2 million U.S. small businesses. Most will never buy Gong. They still have a Monday-morning list of quiet accounts.

According to Gong's 12 May 2026 growth release, sellers spend 77 percent of their time on non-selling activities. That is Gong's figure, in Gong's press. Treat it as the problem Gong is selling against, not a Census time-use study.

The same growth release says Gong added more $1 million+ customers in the last two quarters than in the previous six combined, that 50 percent of customers run multiple Gong products, and that Gong Assistant usage grew over 200 percent year over year. Half of the Fortune 10 is claimed as customers. Named outcome anecdotes include Anthropic 64 percent seller productivity and 10 hours back per AE per week, Uber for Business 32 percent response-rate lift, Canva 60 percent rep-capacity lift, and Paycor 141 percent increase in deal wins. Those are vendor customer claims in a press release.

If the office already automates assistant chase as in five ways to automate assistant tasks, Custom Agents is that chase with Gong's conversation graph underneath. Teams already routing form fills into a CRM, the pattern in form-to-CRM automation, can treat a Gong agent as the watch-and-alert step after capture. Teams already routing those alerts through US Tech Automations workflows can keep the human hold on the same ticket, not rebuild dispatch.

What Gong shipped on 24 June 2026

Gong's Mission Big Dipper press release is dated 24 June 2026. It introduces the Gong Revenue Harness as the evolution of Agent Studio and MCP support, and Custom Agents as the headline: any RevOps leader or sales manager can build and deploy governed AI agents without engineering support.

According to SalesTech Edition, the launch date is 24 June 2026, Custom Agents require no engineering, and Account Console plus Dry Run follow in July 2026. The independent piece restates Gong's "more than 5,000 companies" and the $500 million ARR mark from earlier in 2026.

According to Gong's Mission Big Dipper press release, Gong helps more than 5,000 companies. That is the same headcount SalesTech Edition repeated; it is still Gong's count.

According to NIST, AI RMF 1.0 was released on 26 January 2023. A Gong Custom Agent that emails a customer is still an AI system that framework would map; NIST does not certify Gong. The PDF is NIST.AI.100-1; the AI Resource Center hosts the playbook.

The Gong blog on Mission Big Dipper and the dedicated Revenue Harness post describe a four-stage loop: Architect (research agents turn winning patterns into blueprints), Monitor (live deals scored against the blueprint), Activate (agents, human workflows, and CRM updates), Measure (outcomes back into the Revenue Graph). Surrounding that loop: role-based access, per-agent data scope, configurable behavior, and cost governance.

Eilon Reshef, CPO and co-founder, is quoted in the press release: every revenue leader has AI; almost none are moving the number with it. The Harness, in Gong's words, gives agents conversation context, permission models, and blueprints reverse-engineered from actual wins.

Customer quotes in the same release: Grainne Wafer at Udemy on consistency across a global GTM team; Karine Terzibachi at Attentive on turning customer insights into action. SalesTech Edition repeats both names.

The example workflow in both Gong and SalesTech Edition is the same shape: monitor accounts over $100,000 for risk signals and alert the AE before Monday morning. A second SalesTech example: flag stalled pipeline when engagement drops below a threshold for five consecutive business days.

Prior pieces Gong points to: Gong Agent Studio and MCP support. The Harness is positioned as the layer those investments were building toward. The Mission Big Dipper product page is the campaign URL.

Gong's April trust-barrier research release is the earlier "why governance" story. The June Harness is the product answer. A July 1 Microsoft Marketplace press item is distribution, not the Harness spec.

How Custom Agents actually work

The person types a workflow in Gong. Gong builds the agent: trigger, data sources, output, destination. No ticket to engineering, in Gong's claim. Every Custom Agent inherits the security permissions already configured in that Gong workspace. Actions are auditable. Human oversight is configurable per agent.

That inheritance model is the competitive claim. Generic agent builders, in Gong's telling, lack revenue context and enterprise permission models. CRM-native approaches miss conversational signals. The Harness is supposed to sit on the Gong Revenue Graph — a decade of interactions mapped to accounts — so the agent reasons from what customers said, not only from what a rep typed into CRM.

Gong Assistant expansions are the in-the-moment surface: AI Builder (question to board-ready readout in one conversation), Account Console (July), standalone workspace with filters. Gong Enable additions: Dry Run from a calendar invite (July), AI Coach after role-play, AI Builder for Scorecards from closed-won calls.

None of that is a public protocol. A HubSpot-only shop cannot point an open agent at Gong Harness. SalesTech Edition notes Gong competing with the Clari-Salesloft combination and Salesforce's Agentforce ecosystem. That is market color, not a bake-off.

Dispatch-heavy agencies comparing dispatch software will recognize the same pattern: the system that sees the job has to be the system that pages the person. Revenue Harness is that pattern for deals, inside Gong.

USTA analysis: the $100K watch versus Gong's own time-use claim

USTA analysis. Working only from figures already cited above: Gong's example watch on accounts over $100,000, Gong's claim that sellers spend 77 percent of time on non-selling work, and Custom Agents as GA with no engineering ticket.

  • If 77% of a 40-hour week is non-selling, that is 30.8 hours per week (0.77 × 40). Gong did not publish a 40-hour week; 40 is the conventional U.S. full-time hour count used here only as the multiplier, labeled as such.

  • The $100,000 monitor does not have a published build-hour cost. The product claim is that a manager can stand it up without engineering. There is no sourced hour figure to subtract from 30.8, so payback cannot be computed.

  • What can be computed: Gong's own non-selling share leaves 23 percent selling time (100 − 77). Custom Agents are aimed at the 77, not at replacing the 23.

Derived checkInputsResult
Implied non-selling hours if 40-hour week0.77 × 4030.8 h/week
Implied selling-time share100 − 7723%
Example watch threshold$100,000$100,000
Engineering hours savednot publishedcannot compute

Sources for inputs: Gong growth release; Gong Big Dipper press. The 40-hour multiplier is conventional, not Gong's. Results are USTA arithmetic.

Do not treat 30.8 hours as time Gong gives back. It is Gong's 77% applied to a 40-hour week. Anthropic's "10 hours back" anecdote is a different, vendor-stated customer quote and is not used in this table.

What this does not establish

Gong Revenue Harness does not establish a public price. Check current pricing on the vendor site. It does not establish that Custom Agents work outside Gong. It does not establish an independent conversion study on the $100K monitor.

"Industry-first" is Gong's headline, not a third-party ranking. SalesTech Edition reports the launch; it does not audit the first-ness claim.

July Account Console and Dry Run were "expected" in the June text. This page does not re-verify July GA beyond that dated expectation.

SBA's 36.2 million small-business count is the market Gong does not sell to one-by-one. It is not Gong ARR.

A buyer's evaluation sequence

None of the sourced coverage says the agent signs the contract. Use four checkpoints.

StageScopeHuman decision
PermissionAgent inherits Gong rolesConfirm the agent cannot see accounts the manager cannot
WatchNatural-language workflow, e.g. $100K riskSet who gets the Monday alert
OversightAudit trail and human-in-the-loopRequire a person before customer-facing send
MeasureOutcomes back into the Revenue GraphReview false alerts before widening the agent

A startup that wants a generic sales-agent path rather than a Gong-only harness can look at sales agents and agentic workflows. US Tech Automations is the logging and approval layer if a Gong Custom Agent flags a deal that still needs a person before anyone emails the customer.

Pricing on this site is that layer, not a Gong quote. The broader small-business picture is in the state of small-business automation.

Adjacent Gong surfaces that are not the Harness

Gong Assistant how-tos such as diagnosing past deals and using Gong Assistant to close are conversation surfaces. Gong Enable is the coaching product Dry Run and AI Coach extend. Mission Andromeda is the prior mission Gong says Big Dipper builds on. None of those pages are the Harness. The Gong homepage and press index are where the company files the rest.

A GTM director who wants templates rather than agents can read Gong's financial-services prompt templates or the predictable-growth GTM note. Those are enablement posts. Custom Agents are the no-engineer watch.

The SBA Advocacy homepage restates 36.2 million small businesses and 62.3 million small-business employees. Gong's $500 million ARR and 5,000-company base are a different universe. A 10-person agency copying the Monday $100K watch is copying a pattern, not buying that ARR.

Gong named a Gartner Magic Quadrant Leader placement and a Fast Company 2026 Applied AI list in the May growth release. Those are awards Gong cites. They are not a Custom Agent conversion study.

Reshef's author page is the byline on the Harness essays. The launch page is the campaign. If a buyer cannot tell those URLs apart, they will confuse a mission name with a protocol.

Signal vs Speculation

Demonstrated signal: as of 24 June 2026 Gong launched Mission Big Dipper and the Gong Revenue Harness; Custom Agents are described as generally available that month without engineering; SalesTech Edition independently dated the launch, the no-engineer claim, and July Account Console / Dry Run; Gong's May 12 growth release states ARR above $500 million, over 55% YoY, 5,000+ companies, 77% non-selling time, 50% multi-product customers, 200% Assistant growth; Assistant expansions and Enable (Dry Run, AI Coach, Scorecards) are part of the same mission; the Harness is Gong-only.

Our read: over the next 12–36 months, mid-market RevOps teams already on Gong will try one Custom Agent on a Monday risk watch before they try a platform migration. If the inheritance model holds — same permissions, audit trail, human oversight — the constraint that broke is not model quality. It is the engineering ticket. Shops not on Gong should not wait for a portable "revenue harness" protocol; none of these sources describe one. They should put the same watch on whatever CRM they already run, with a human hold, and treat Gong's June launch as the template, not the SKU.

FAQ

What is Gong Revenue Harness?

It is Gong's agentic execution layer for governing and orchestrating revenue AI agents, including Custom Agents built in natural language, on top of the Gong Revenue Graph.

When did it launch?

Gong dated the Mission Big Dipper announcement 24 June 2026. SalesTech Edition independently used that date.

Can a shop that does not use Gong buy it?

Not as a stand-alone protocol. The sources describe a Gong-only harness.

Are Custom Agents generally available?

Gong's June press release says Custom Agents are generally available that month, with more capabilities rolling out later. Account Console and Dry Run were expected in July 2026.

Is there a public price?

No dollar price for the Harness appears in the fetched press or blog posts. Check current pricing on Gong's site.

What should a small team copy even without Gong?

A named watch (account size, risk signal, Monday alert), inherited permissions, an audit trail, and a human hold before customer send. That pattern does not require Gong's brand name.

What to do next

Gong Revenue Harness is a Gong-only execution layer with Custom Agents GA as of the June 2026 launch month. The honest limit is the missing public price and the missing independent outcome study.

If the next step is to put a Monday risk watch behind an approval step instead of letting an agent email the account unsupervised, start from agentic workflows for Gong-style revenue watches on US Tech Automations, then set the hold on pricing.
