HawkSoft vs EZLynx Quote Auto-Fill: Nine Steps, 2026

Sep 1, 2026

Auto-fill copies named fields from the HawkSoft client and policy screens into an EZLynx rating session. It does not choose a carrier, bind coverage, or replace a producer conversation on unusual risks. Fields that usually map are name, address, date of birth, VIN, and dwelling year built. Fields that must stay human are prior losses, occupancy, and scheduled articles. If a vendor document for an API field name is behind a login, that name is UNKNOWN on this page and the step stays human.

This is not an AMS beauty contest. Quote the steps by number so a buyer can reply "we need steps 4-7." HawkSoft remains the client file. EZLynx remains the rater. Instant Commercial Quoting, announced 30 June 2026, is a commercial-lines sibling inside EZLynx. It does not replace personal-lines auto-fill from a HawkSoft client record.

HawkSoft 18-year average stay according to HawkSoft (checked September 1, 2026), which also states a 97 percent recommendation rate. That is a vendor retention claim, not proof that HawkSoft already pushes EZLynx. EZLynx 37,000 agencies claimed according to Applied Systems (30 June 2026 Instant Commercial Quoting press copy; the same page also claims more than 14 million home, auto, and package rating transactions every month). Treat those as vendor volume claims, not independent auto-fill proof.

HawkSoft public list price remains UNKNOWN on hawksoft.com as of 2026-09-01. Contact the vendor. Do not invent a seconds-to-quote promise. Do not claim a certified partnership. Hypothetical desks below are composites, not customers.

Key Takeaways

  • Auto-fill is a field copy from HawkSoft into an EZLynx rating session. It is not a bind engine.

  • Freeze the map before any API user exists: export one live personal-auto record, list every required EZLynx field, get a producer to sign the two-column map.

  • Steps 4-6 are connect, write, and rate. Steps 7-9 are write-back, exception queue, and completed-quote measurement.

  • Kill the personal-auto pilot if more than 20 percent of 25 quotes still need a typed VIN after the map is frozen.

  • Prior losses, occupancy, and scheduled articles stay human. Unmatched VINs go to a CSR queue.

What quote auto-fill can and cannot copy

The rater is only as fast as the last field a person typed. Agencies that keep HawkSoft as the client file still lose minutes per quote re-entering the same ACORD-shaped data in EZLynx. Auto-fill is the join that copies named fields. It is not a comparative-rater replacement, not a carrier appointment, and not a producer script for a driver with four losses.

VIN is 17 characters according to NHTSA vPIC. That length is why an unmatched VIN is a queue item, not a guess. Do not invent a VIN-check API name. If HawkSoft stores a 17-character VIN and EZLynx will not rate without it, the map either copies the VIN or the quote goes to a CSR. If the VIN is blank, short, or fails a check-digit the shop already uses, keep it human.

Name, mailing address, date of birth, and dwelling year built usually have a home on both screens. Prior losses do not. Occupancy does not. Scheduled articles do not. A producer who has seen the risk still owns those three. Parking a field in notes is allowed. Inventing a custom EZLynx field name is not.

Website intake that never reached HawkSoft is a different job. Start that form-to-AMS path with insurance website-form lead capture. Export wiring that is not this rater join lives in HawkSoft to Zapier for agencies. Hiring a second CSR to re-type VINs is not auto-fill; see insurance agency recruitment automation only after the map is frozen.

Freeze the field map before you connect anything

Step 1: export one live personal-auto record from HawkSoft. Not a training record. Not a made-up named insured. One real client the CSR already quotes, with the screens a producer will recognize. Redact it in the working file if your compliance owner says so. The export is for field names and completeness, not for publishing.

Step 2: open a blank EZLynx rating screen and list every required field. Required means the rater will not run without it. Optional marketing fields do not belong on this list. If EZLynx labels a field in a way HawkSoft does not, write both labels in the map. Do not invent a third name.

Step 3: publish a two-column map and get a producer to sign it. Column A is the HawkSoft screen and label. Column B is the EZLynx rating-screen label. If a field has no home in EZLynx, park it in notes. If EZLynx requires a field HawkSoft does not store, the map says "human" in column A. No API user exists until this page is signed.

NAIC company codes are 5 digits according to NAIC. If a prior-carrier field needs a company identifier and HawkSoft only stores a marketing name, that field stays human until a producer maps the name to a code. Do not guess a 5-digit code.

Independent agencies still do the quoting work even when the rater is fast. IIABA represents independent agents according to Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America (checked September 1, 2026). That membership homepage is not a seconds-to-quote study. Time-saved figures that cannot be opened on a primary page are UNKNOWN here.

Connect, write, and rate the session

Step 4: create a read-only HawkSoft API user. Read-only is the control. A write-capable user on the source ledger is how a bad map corrupts the client file. Name the user after the workflow, not after a person. Store the credential where your existing AMS secrets live. If HawkSoft's public site does not document the exact user-permission label, that label is UNKNOWN; keep the step with your HawkSoft admin and do not invent it.

Step 5: write the mapped fields into EZLynx. Only the signed columns. Name, address, date of birth, VIN, dwelling year built if present. Do not send prior losses. Do not send occupancy. Do not send scheduled articles. If EZLynx rejects a field, that submission goes to the CSR queue with the rejection text. Do not retry a rejected VIN into a guessed VIN.

Step 6: trigger rating and capture the quote identifier. The producer still chooses the option the client sees. Auto-fill is finished when a quote identifier exists, not when a binder exists. Empty quote: fail closed to a human with the reason. Instant Commercial Quoting as of 30 June 2026 may rate GL, BOP, or workers-comp inside EZLynx. Cite it only as a commercial-lines sibling. It does not replace this personal-lines auto-fill from HawkSoft.

US Tech Automations can configure the read-only HawkSoft API user, write only the mapped fields into EZLynx, and queue unmatched VINs instead of guessing them. That is a workflow step on the join, not a certified-partner badge, and not a promise that quotes return in a stated number of seconds.

A second, later step on the same flow is the write-back. US Tech Automations then writes the selected premium and carrier back to HawkSoft as an activity, routes missing prior-carrier fields to a CSR queue, and measures quotes completed without a re-key. Configure that join on the workflow layer only after the signed map exists. Native HawkSoft and native EZLynx still own the client file and the rating session.

Do not expand steps 4-6 to homeowners while auto is still throwing VIN exceptions. Do not add commercial Instant Commercial Quoting to this personal-auto map. One line of business, one CSR, one rater screen.

Write back, exception queue, and measure completed quotes

Step 7: write the selected premium and carrier back to HawkSoft as an activity. The AMS must see what was quoted. A PDF in a mailbox is not write-back. If the activity type is not documented on a public page, keep the activity-type name UNKNOWN and have the HawkSoft admin pick an existing activity, not a made-up code.

Step 8: send unmatched VINs and missing prior-carrier fields to a CSR queue. The queue is a named list with the HawkSoft client ID, the EZLynx rejection text, and the field that failed. A shared inbox is not a queue. A Slack ping without the client ID is not a queue. The CSR types only the failed field, not the entire rating screen.

Step 9: measure quotes completed without a re-key, not quotes started. A started quote that still needed a typed VIN is a miss. A completed quote where name, address, date of birth, and VIN copied and the producer only chose the option is a hit. Tally 25 personal-auto quotes for one CSR. Kill if more than 20 percent still need a typed VIN after the map is frozen. Twenty percent of 25 is 5 quotes. If 6 or more still need a typed VIN, stop the automation and fix the map.

Renewal is out of scope for this auto-fill page. When the auto map is boring, the renewal file still opens 60-90 days out on a different join; see eight-step insurance policy renewal workflow. Reputation mail around a quoted but unbound risk is also a different job; see insurance reputation management automation.

Where native HawkSoft and EZLynx tools stop

HawkSoft's public site fetched 2026-09-01 talks retention alerts, lead management, and reports. It does not document a one-click EZLynx auto-fill. EZLynx documents rating inside its own AMS. That is not the same as reading a HawkSoft client file. Instant Commercial Quoting on 30 June 2026 made some commercial quoting a seamless part of the EZLynx submission workflow, per the Applied Systems press copy. Seamless inside EZLynx is still not a HawkSoft export.

Public HawkSoft list price remains UNKNOWN on hawksoft.com as of 2026-09-01. EZLynx public list price is also UNKNOWN from the pages used on that date. Contact the vendor. Do not paste a blog-roundup seat price into a TCO model. Orchestration on the Growth plan is $372/mo on annual billing with 150 API calls per flow per day as of 2026-09-01, without a pricing-path link on this page. Count one call to read HawkSoft, one to write EZLynx, one to write the activity back. That is 3 calls per completed quote if you design it that way. Fifty quotes would be 150 calls, which is the Growth cap on one flow in one day. If the desk exceeds that, use Scale at 500 or split auto and homeowners later, after auto is boring.

Do not claim US Tech Automations is a HawkSoft or EZLynx certified partner. That claim is not on this page because it is not established here as of 2026-09-01.

Pilot one personal-auto book

Personal auto only, 25 quotes, one CSR. Do not expand to homeowners until the auto map is boring. Kill if more than 20 percent of quotes still need a typed VIN after the map is frozen. Success is completed quotes without a re-key, not quotes started, not pageviews, not a seconds promise.

Hypothetical composite, not a customer: one CSR, one producer, a personal-auto book already in HawkSoft, EZLynx already the rater. Week 0 is the signed map. Week 1 is 10 quotes with the CSR watching every field. Week 2 is 15 more with the CSR only on the exception queue. If VIN exceptions exceed 5 of 25, kill. If prior losses were auto-filled, that is a defect, not a win; those fields were supposed to stay human.

Manual fallback if either API is down: the CSR quotes in EZLynx the way they do today. The pilot does not strand a client because a token expired. The producer still owns unusual risks. Bind is still a licensed person.

When auto is boring, the next line of business is homeowners with dwelling year built on the map, not commercial Instant Commercial Quoting, and not a second AMS. One map at a time.

Configure the nine steps from US Tech Automations after the producer signs the field map. Homepage once. Workflow layer linked above. No /pricing, /demo, or /trial path on this page.

The 25-quote tally is a map test, not a producer contest. Run it on one CSR who already knows both screens. If that CSR is also answering the phones, the 25 quotes may take more than a week; that is allowed. What is not allowed is expanding the map while VIN exceptions are still the majority of the queue. Homeowners year-built, commercial Instant Commercial Quoting, and a second CSR are all later. Auto is boring when unmatched VINs are rare, prior losses never auto-fill, and the producer only chooses the option.

Arithmetic, not a promise: 25 completed quotes at 3 calls is 75 calls, under the 150 Growth cap on one flow in one day. Six VIN exceptions add 6 more. Retries on a rejected VIN must not exist; that is how you blow the cap and also guess a VIN. If the desk would run more than 50 auto quotes through this one flow in a day, split a second flow or use Scale at 500. Do not guess the desk's volume in advance. Measure the 25, then look at the daily peak.

A composite week, not a customer: Monday the CSR watches 10 quotes field by field. Wednesday the CSR only works the exception list. Friday you tally. If 6 of 25 still needed a typed VIN, you stop and fix the export, not the rater. If 0 of 25 auto-filled prior losses, that is a pass on the human-field rule even if VIN still needs work. Two kill rules can fire independently. VIN over 20 percent kills the automation. Prior-loss auto-fill kills the map even at 1 of 25, because that field was never supposed to copy.

Do not store the read-only HawkSoft password in a shared spreadsheet. Do not give the workflow user write access "just in case." Do not name API fields you have not seen on a public page or a signed map. UNKNOWN stays human. Bind stays a person. Seconds-to-premium stays unpromised.

FAQ

Does auto-fill choose the carrier?

No. It copies named fields into an EZLynx rating session. The producer still chooses. Bind stays with a person.

Which fields must stay human?

Prior losses, occupancy, and scheduled articles. Unmatched VINs and missing prior-carrier fields go to a CSR queue.

Can Instant Commercial Quoting replace this personal-auto map?

No. The 30 June 2026 launch is a commercial-lines sibling inside EZLynx. It does not read a HawkSoft personal-auto client file.

What if HawkSoft API field names are behind a login?

Write UNKNOWN and keep that step human. Do not invent a custom field name.

What is the 25-quote kill rule?

Kill if more than 20 percent (6 or more of 25) still need a typed VIN after the map is frozen. Do not expand to homeowners until auto is boring.

Is there a public HawkSoft list price for the TCO tab?

UNKNOWN on hawksoft.com as of 2026-09-01. Contact the vendor.

Nine numbered steps, one signed map, one personal-auto pilot, and a VIN kill rule. HawkSoft stays the client file. EZLynx stays the rater. Auto-fill is the copy, not the bind.
