Interview Integrity Platform [What It Changes]
TL;DR
Interview Integrity Platform is HireID's live-interview fraud layer: it watches Zoom, Google Meet, and Microsoft Teams calls, flags 20-plus signals (deepfake, voice clone, proxy, unauthorized AI help), and keeps a verified identity from intake through day one, as of the August 17, 2026 launch in HireID's Newsfile release.
According to Gartner, a 2Q25 survey of 3,000 job candidates found 6% admitted to interview fraud. 6% of 3,000 candidates admitted interview fraud. That is Gartner's figure, not HireID's conversion rate.
Traditional background checks run after the interview and answer a narrower question: is this person safe to hire. HireID's stated gap is: is this the person who actually showed up. Candidate Intake is a companion product that verifies identity and screens documents before the invite.
A two-truck HVAC shop, a 10-person agency, or a solo clinic that hires remote help should care because a fake on a video call is not an enterprise-only problem. It is a payroll, access, and I-9 problem the first week someone has keys or a login.
Key Takeaways
Interview Integrity Platform is a live-signal product. It does not replace Form I-9, E-Verify, or a background check.
HireID says flagged candidates route to humans. An automated reject is the failure mode the company says it designed against.
Gartner's 6% admit rate and 1-in-4-by-2028 profile forecast are Gartner's. HireID's "over 98%" detection figure is internal benchmark testing, per the same launch release.
The first honest test is one live interview you already recorded: can a reviewer see the flag, the underlying signal, and a decision log a lawyer can read.
The answer in plain English
Interview Integrity Platform is a real-time candidate-fraud monitor that sits on a live video interview, flags identity and assistance risks while the candidate is still on the call, and carries a verified identity from intake through onboarding. As of August 17, 2026, that is the product HireID, a candidate-fraud vendor in South Plainfield, New Jersey, said it launched alongside Candidate Intake.
A two-truck HVAC company that hires a remote dispatcher already lives this. The owner interviews a calm voice on Zoom, then a different person shows up in the scheduling tool. A 10-person marketing agency interviews a "senior strategist" on Google Meet and later finds the deck was generated live by a tool off-camera. A solo clinic interviews a billing specialist on Microsoft Teams and learns on day three that the I-9 documents do not match the face. Background checks, in HireID's telling, answer whether a named person is safe. They do not answer whether that named person is the one on the call. The constraint that broke is cheap synthetic video plus remote hiring. The product does not prove the hire is qualified. It tries to prove the hire is the same person.
That is why a small operator should read this page even if they will never buy an enterprise ATS suite. The useful question is not "does AI watch the interview." It is "who owns the flag when software says this might be a proxy, and what evidence sits next to that flag when the candidate asks."
Who should use this page
This page is for a recruiting lead, staffing-agency owner, or hiring manager who runs remote interviews on Zoom, Meet, or Teams, and for any small employer being sold "AI that catches deepfakes."
Red flags: auto-rejecting on a single signal; treating Interview Integrity Platform as an I-9 or E-Verify substitute; quoting HireID's 98% internal test as a Gartner result.
What shipped, and when
According to HireID's Newsfile release dated August 17, 2026, the company launched Interview Integrity Platform and Candidate Intake as integrated tools to detect candidate fraud before and during interviews. HireID launched Interview Integrity Platform on 17 August 2026. The same text ran on Yahoo Finance and FinanzNachrichten. Those are the same paid release, not three independent studies.
According to that Newsfile release, the live platform monitors more than 20 fraud signals on Zoom, Google Meet, and Microsoft Teams, and the deepfake detection model achieved over 98% accuracy on synthetic identity detection in internal benchmark testing. HireID cites over 98% internal detection accuracy. That 98% is the vendor's test, not a regulator's.
The release also cites GetReal Security's Deepfake Readiness Benchmark Report: 41% of IT, cybersecurity, risk, and fraud leaders said their organization has hired and onboarded a fraudulent candidate, and 88% of organizations encounter deepfake or impersonation attacks at least occasionally. We did not open GetReal's report. Treat 41% and 88% as HireID's citation of GetReal, not as a figure we pulled from GetReal.
Candidate Intake, in the same release, invites candidates to complete identity verification and optional work-authorization document upload before the interview. Every document is screened for tampering, forgery, and synthetic or altered records. HireID states Candidate Intake does not determine legal work authorization and does not replace Form I-9 or E-Verify.
HireID's site repeats the Interview Integrity Platform name, lists 20+ fraud signals and 98% detection accuracy, and says the Interview Agent can join Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Google Meet. It names ATS integrations including Ashby, Greenhouse, Lever, Gem, and SmartRecruiters. It says HireID does not automatically reject candidates. It also displays marketing figures such as 70% reduction in hiring fraud, 3x faster screening, and 500K+ verified candidates. Those homepage totals were not in the August 17 release's methodology. Do not mix them into the Gartner rows.

Why the interview is now the gap
Background checks were built for a named person at the end of a funnel. Remote video moved the identity test into the middle of the funnel, then generative tools made a stand-in cheap. According to Gartner, the firm predicts that by 2028 one in four candidate profiles worldwide will be fake, and only 26% of job candidates trust AI will fairly evaluate them (1Q25, n=2,918). Gartner projects 1 in 4 profiles fake by 2028. The same Gartner release says a 4Q24 survey of 3,290 candidates found 39% used AI during the application process, and that 62% of candidates said they are more likely to apply if the organization requires in-person interviews (2Q25).
That last figure is a product constraint. A tool that only works on Zoom will miss the employers who move the final round in-person because candidates asked them to. HireID's release says it is available now for enterprise and mid-market hiring teams. It does not publish a price.
The legal floor is older than the SKU. USCIS Form I-9 is how U.S. employers verify identity and work authorization after hire. The page we opened lists edition date 01/20/25 and says employers must retain Form I-9 for three years after the date of hire, or one year after employment ends, whichever is later. Candidate Intake, by HireID's own disclaimer, does not replace that form. E-Verify is the DHS system that checks work authorization against government records. HireID says it does not replace E-Verify either.
EEOC is the agency that hears employment-discrimination charges. A fraud flag that correlates with a protected characteristic, or a process that only watches some candidates, is an EEOC problem even if the vendor says humans decide. OFAC administers U.S. sanctions, including a North Korea program. HireID's site discusses sanctions exposure in hiring and cites per-transaction penalty math; that page is vendor commentary, not an OFAC FAQ we opened. The FBI's Internet Crime Complaint Center is the hub for reporting cyber-enabled crime and notes that over $50 billion was reported lost from 2020 to 2024. A deepfake interview is adjacent to that reporting channel, not a substitute for it.
NIST's AI Risk Management Framework is voluntary guidance for trustworthy AI, released January 26, 2023, with a generative-AI profile in 2024. CISA tracks cyber threats. The FTC takes identity-theft and fraud reports. HHS HIPAA matters if the employer is a covered entity and interview recordings include health information. HireID's release says the platform is SOC 2 Type II certified and supports HIPAA, ISO 27001, and GDPR requirements. Those are vendor compliance claims, not certificates we inspected.
The occupation that has to run this is not tiny. According to the BLS Occupational Outlook Handbook for human resources specialists, HR specialists held about 939,700 jobs in 2025, with 2025 median pay of $75,940, and employment projected to grow 6% from 2025 to 2035. HR specialists held 939,700 jobs in 2025. About 73,700 openings are projected each year. A staffing shop comparing recruiting automation tools or a recruiting CRM under 100 employees will meet Interview Integrity Platform as another join on the same ATS, not as a replacement for it.
How Interview Integrity Platform works
HireID splits the job into two products that share an identity.
Candidate Intake is the pre-interview gate. The recruiter sends an invite. The candidate completes identity verification and may upload work-authorization documents. The system screens those files for fraud indicators. Recruiters then see who has cleared verification before they spend interview hours. HireID is explicit that this is not a legal work-authorization determination.
Interview Integrity Platform is the live layer. An agent joins Zoom, Meet, or Teams and watches 20-plus signals: synthetic video artifacts, voice-cloning indicators, unauthorized AI assistance, behavioral patterns consistent with a proxy, multiple faces, lip-sync issues, eye-focus shifts, tab switching. Flags appear inline with plain-language context. Every flag links back to the underlying signal. Every signal, review, and decision is logged. Flagged candidates route to human reviewers. Identity continuity is the claim that the same verified person appears from first interview through onboarding.
HireID's FAQ says the product does not replace background checks. Background checks validate employment, education, criminal history, or credentials after consent. Interview Integrity Platform tries to confirm who is participating while the interview is happening. Teams already routing candidate packets through US Tech Automations workflows will plug a flag and a recording pointer into that packet as a step, not as a new ATS.

USTA analysis
USTA analysis (derived only from figures already cited above). Inputs: Gartner 2Q25 interview-fraud admit rate of 6%; Gartner forecast that by 2028 one in four (25%) of candidate profiles worldwide will be fake. Arithmetic: 25 ÷ 6 = 4.17. If you treat today's 6% self-report as a floor on interview fraud and Gartner's 25% as a 2028 fake-profile share, the forecasted profile problem is about 4.2 times the current admit rate. These are different objects (admitted interview fraud vs fake profiles) from the same research house. The derived ratio is a scale check, not a HireID accuracy score. HireID's internal 98% test does not convert 6% into 0.12% residual fraud. Do not do that multiply.
A second derived check: Gartner 6% of 3,000 = 180 candidates in that sample who admitted impersonating someone or having someone interview for them. That is 180 people in one survey wave who already described the failure mode this product is aimed at. It is not 180 HireID catches.
| Derived check (USTA analysis) | Input A | Input B | Result |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2028 fake-profile share / 2025 admit rate | 25% | 6% | 4.2× |
| Admitted fraud in Gartner 2Q25 sample | 6% | 3,000 | 180 people |
| HireID internal accuracy (vendor) | over 98% | n/a | not a field rate |
| I-9 retention (USCIS) | 3 years after hire | 1 year after end | later of the two |

What it is not
It is not Form I-9. It is not E-Verify. It is not an EEOC safe harbor. It is not a background check. It is not a guarantee that a 98% lab test will hold on your next Zoom. It is not a substitute for recruiting estimating discipline or for the assistant work in executive-assistant automation. The Department of Justice investigates identity and sanctions cases; HireID does not. Small shops that already move applications through form-to-CRM automation still need a human to read the flag.
How a small shop should run the same loop
If you run a two-truck HVAC company and hire a remote CSR, record the interview, keep the I-9 separate, and do not give system access until the face on day one matches the face you hired. If you run a 10-person agency, put the fraud flag next to the scorecard in the ATS, not in a private Slack that disappears. If you run a solo clinic, remember HIPAA if the recording can include patient names.
US Tech Automations is the place a shop maps that analog when HireID is too much product: intake form, interview link, recording pointer, human review task, I-9 task, then the offer. That is a workflow join on small-business automation, not a new HRIS.
Signal vs Speculation
Demonstrated (sourced): HireID launched Interview Integrity Platform and Candidate Intake on August 17, 2026, per Newsfile, with the same text on Yahoo and FinanzNachrichten. The vendor says 20-plus live signals, over 98% internal synthetic-identity accuracy, human review by design, Zoom/Meet/Teams coverage, and no automated reject. Gartner published 6% interview-fraud admits (n=3,000, 2Q25), a 1-in-4 fake-profile forecast by 2028, 26% candidate trust in AI evaluation, and 39% AI use in applications. USCIS still requires I-9. BLS still counts hundreds of thousands of HR specialists.
Unknown: any independent field accuracy, false-positive rate by skin tone or accent, or hire-quality outcome. GetReal's 41% and 88% figures were not verified at GetReal. DOJ's "136 companies" line in the HireID release was not opened on justice.gov in this pass. Price is unpublished. Whether a flag survives an EEOC charge is untested here.
Our read: if the product does what the launch copy says, the 12-to-36-month effect on small and mid-size businesses is that remote-first shops will be asked by clients and insurers whether they watched the interview, not only whether they ran a check. A 10-person agency that staffs contractors will feel it first. HVAC and clinic operators will feel it the first time a remote hire has payroll and a login. If Gartner's 25% fake-profile share arrives, tools that only summarize resumes will look late. If it does not, Interview Integrity Platform is still a reasonable join for any shop that already records interviews and already files I-9s, as long as a person owns the flag. Do not treat 98% as the residual risk.
FAQs
What is Interview Integrity Platform?
Interview Integrity Platform is HireID's live-interview product that monitors 20-plus fraud signals on Zoom, Google Meet, and Microsoft Teams and surfaces deepfake, proxy, impersonation, and unauthorized-AI flags for human review, launched August 17, 2026.
Does it replace background checks or I-9?
No. HireID says it does not replace background checks, Form I-9, or E-Verify. Those remain employer obligations under USCIS and, where used, E-Verify.
How accurate is it?
HireID reports over 98% accuracy on synthetic identity detection in internal benchmark testing. That is not a published field trial. Gartner's 6% is a candidate self-report, not a HireID catch rate.
Will it auto-reject candidates?
No. HireID's release and site say flagged candidates route to human reviewers and the employer makes the hiring decision. An unexplained auto-reject is the legal risk the company says it designed against.
Why should a 10-person shop care?
Because remote interviews are already how you hire, and a proxy on the call is a payroll and access problem before any enterprise "deepfake program" exists. Put a recording, a flag, and an I-9 in one packet.
What should I do this week?
Pick one open req. Record the next interview. Write down who verified identity, who watched the call, and where the I-9 will live. If you already route those packets in US Tech Automations, add the recording pointer as a required field before the offer step on an agentic workflow.
Glossary
Interview Integrity Platform: HireID's August 17, 2026 live-interview fraud monitor for Zoom, Meet, and Teams.
Candidate Intake: HireID's pre-interview identity and document-screening product.
Proxy interview: A stand-in taking the interview for the named candidate.
Identity continuity: HireID's claim that the same verified person remains present from first interview through onboarding.
Form I-9: The USCIS employment-eligibility form every U.S. employer must complete and retain.
E-Verify: DHS system that checks work authorization against government records.
Synthetic identity: A made-up or AI-generated identity used in a profile or on a call.
Deepfake: Synthetic or manipulated video or audio presented as a real person.
Interview Integrity Platform is a live-signal join, not a hiring decision. If you already move candidate files through US Tech Automations, the useful next step is to put the flag, the recording, and the I-9 in one workflow instead of three inboxes.
