ZoomMate [What It Changes]

Sep 2, 2026

TL;DR

  • ZoomMate is Zoom's paid agentic work surface: it reads meeting, chat, and connected-app context, then searches, routes tasks, and drafts finished documents instead of stopping at a transcript.

  • As of June 2026, Zoom priced ZoomMate from $20 per user per month with 2,200 included AI credits for North America online and direct customers; Zoom AI On-Prem is a separate Node add-on for captions and transcription on customer hardware.

  • Independent write-ups from Aragon Research (12 June 2026), TechRepublic, No Jitter, and heise online describe the same three verbs Zoom uses: search, orchestrate, complete.

  • ZoomMate is not a protocol, not a replacement for your CRM, and not a finished on-prem agent farm; it is a Zoom-stated product name sitting on top of Zoom Workplace.

According to NFIB, 44% of small businesses cite time-management. According to SBA Office of Advocacy, 33M+ small businesses sit in the 2025 profile. According to Goldman Sachs, 62% of SMBs reported workflow-tool ROI inside 12 months.

Key Takeaways

  • The meeting can start the work; Salesforce, ServiceNow, and the invoice file still have to accept it.

  • $20 and 2,200 credits are Zoom's published starting allotment, not your shop's actual bill after Deep Research and agent runs.

  • Built-in meeting summaries stay in Zoom Workplace; ZoomMate is the paid layer that tries to finish the follow-through.

  • Zoom AI On-Prem at launch processes captions and transcription locally; agentic search on that node is marked coming soon on Zoom's own page.

  • Keep price changes, legal notices, and ledger posts behind a named person even if ZoomMate can draft the email.

What ZoomMate actually is

ZoomMate is Zoom's agentic work surface inside Zoom Workplace: an assistant that is supposed to turn a conversation into a search answer, a routed task, and a first-draft deliverable across Zoom and connected systems such as Salesforce, ServiceNow, and Google Drive.

A 2-truck HVAC shop should read this the way it would read a dispatcher that can turn a call into a work order and still needs a person to post the invoice. A 10-person marketing agency should read it the way it would read a producer that can draft the recap deck and still needs a person to send the priced proposal. A solo-run clinic should read it the way it would read a scheduler that can offer a slot without rewriting the chart. The operational change is the same in each case: the assistant may start the work; the system of record still has to accept it.

This article is current as of June 2026. ZoomMate is a Zoom-stated product name, not a protocol.

What shipped, and which date is the signal

Zoom's own June 1 launch is the vendor announcement. This hub uses Aragon Research's 12 June 2026 write-up as the independent dated signal that ZoomMate agents and an on-prem AI option were being briefed as live directions.

According to Aragon Research, the 12 June 2026 analysis said Zoom introduced autonomous agents in a ZoomMate framework that ingest meetings, chats, and third-party platforms to generate deliverables and route work, plus an on-premises AI Service on hybrid nodes.

Zoom's 1 June 2026 launch said ZoomMate was generally available for online and direct customers in North America, combining agentic search, AI-generated presentations, and automated execution in Salesforce, Jira, Slack, ServiceNow, and more. According to Zoom, that starting price is $20 per user per month with included AI credits, with EMEA and APAC expected later in the year, and a note that general availability is a gradual rollout.

The constraint that broke is the summary that still needs a human to open four other apps. Zoom's 10 March 2026 Enterprise Connect release had already described an agentic platform, 10 secure search connectors, and Zoom Phone at more than 10 million seats. That March page is the system-of-action brief; ZoomMate is the June product name on top of it.

Compare the Cloud's 1 June 2026 note repeated the $20 starting price. TechRepublic on 2 June 2026 independently described search, orchestrate, and complete as the three verbs.

The mechanism in plain language

In plain language, ZoomMate sits where the meeting already happened. You ask a question or it picks up a next step. It searches Zoom plus connected systems, respecting the permissions Zoom says it inherits. It can schedule, update a record, open a task, or draft a deck. A person still has to decide whether that update is allowed to post.

Zoom's 1 June product explainer splits the product into Search, Orchestrate, and Complete, and names Google Drive, Salesforce, ServiceNow, Confluence, OneDrive, Box, and Zoom's own meeting and chat history as search sources. The same page says retrieval is permissions-aware: if ServiceNow already hides an incident from you, ZoomMate is supposed to hide it too. That is a product-architecture claim. Verify it on a real user before you treat it as a control.

Zoom's 24 June 2026 companion explainer says meeting summaries and smart compose remain built into Zoom Workplace, while ZoomMate is the agentic product that acts on meeting context to complete work. No Jitter on 26 June 2026 reported Zoom sunset Custom AI Companion on June 1 and quoted a spokesperson calling ZoomMate "not a replacement for AI Companion, but a new work surface for searching data and completing tasks." Zoom's Custom AI Companion page was still live when this hub was written; ask Zoom which SKU your tenant actually has.

Agents are a later slice. Zoom's 22 June 2026 agents and on-prem release said users can enter a brief prompt, talk to the agent in Zoom Chat, pull Salesforce, ServiceNow, Google Drive, Confluence, Box, and OneDrive context, and that agents are included with ZoomMate plans and subject to AI credits. According to heise online, ZoomMate costs $20 per user per month and the Agents function was scheduled later in June 2026, with a gradual North America rollout.

Zoom's admin article on enabling AI agents, updated 22 June 2026, requires a ZoomMate license, available AI credits, desktop app 7.0.5 or higher on Windows, macOS, and Linux, and an admin toggle. The same page describes an "Always allow" mode that lets the agent edit files, share recordings, and send messages without requiring approval. That toggle is the control a small shop should leave off until a named person has watched a week of drafts.

The ZoomMate product page lists pre-built agents for Sales, IT, Marketing, and Finance, and a ZoomMate Basic tier on Workplace Basic: 3 hosted-meeting summaries per month, 20 AI queries, agentic search over 10 files and 3 meetings, and 10 Zoom-only workflow runs. Those caps are Zoom's published limits, not a forecast of your week.

Pricing, credits, and what $20 actually buys

According to TechRepublic, ZoomMate starts at $20 per user per month in North America, and the AI Productivity Suite is included with ZoomMate and also sold separately for $10 per user per month.

According to No Jitter, the ZoomMate plan provides 2200 credits per user per month, most ZoomMate capabilities are metered, credits are pooled across the organization, and unused monthly credits do not roll over.

Zoom's AI Credits support article says unused monthly credits expire at the subscription anniversary and do not rollover, credit packs expire 1 year from purchase, and 10 suite licenses at 1000 credits per user produce a 10,000-credit pool. Meeting summaries are not currently metered; ZoomMate task execution, agentic search, Deep Research, and agent runs are.

The AI Productivity Suite page publishes 1,000 AI credits per user per month on the paid suite SKU and 2,200 credits on the ZoomMate SKU that includes the suite. 2,200 AI credits per user per month is Zoom's ZoomMate allotment on that page, not your overage bill.

$20 per user per month is Zoom's starting price. That sentence is sourced to Zoom's 1 June launch. It is not a three-year TCO.

Why now: summaries scaled; follow-through did not

Zoom's 10 March AI Companion 3.0 release said AI Companion monthly active users more than tripled year over year in Q4 FY26. The parent Enterprise Connect platform release repeats that tripling and says Phone MAUs using AI features increased 35% sequentially. Those are Zoom adoption figures for the included assistant, not ZoomMate conversion rates.

Zoom's 1 June suite explainer says Zoom's 2026 GenAI ROI Study found 64% of workers still create post-meeting follow-up emails by hand, and each one takes one to two hours. Zoom's what-is-ZoomMate page cites the same study of 500 U.S. knowledge workers: Zoom AI users report reclaiming three to six hours per week, and 72% of Zoom AI users rate AI's business impact as high or extremely high versus 63% for the broader generative AI market. Those are Zoom's study figures, not a ZoomMate A/B test.

AI Companion MAUs more than tripled in Q4 FY26. That is Zoom's Q4 claim on the March AI release. It does not prove ZoomMate will reclaim three to six hours in a two-person shop.

Zoom AI Services is a separate developer SKU. It is not ZoomMate.

On-prem is captions first, not the full agent

Zoom's 22 June on-prem release said Zoom AI On-Prem is built on Zoom Node — the same architecture as Meetings Hybrid and Phone Local Survivability — and at launch supports English, French, German, and Swedish for captioning and transcription on customer infrastructure, with translation, summaries, Q&A, and agentic search expected later.

The Zoom AI On-Prem product page lists a paid Workplace license plus a monthly On-Prem fee, hardware as an 8-core Intel server with 16 GB RAM or higher, a minimum of two servers for on-prem, and an L4 GPU. Meeting summaries and agentic search on that page are marked coming soon. AI runs on customer GPUs or private cloud while meetings stay in the Zoom cloud.

Zoom Node is the hybrid hub. Zoom states each Node has capacity for up to four modules. On-prem is a deployment choice for regulated buyers. It is not proof that ZoomMate agents will write to Salesforce from a box in your closet.

USTA analysis: $20 minus $10

USTA analysis. Inputs: TechRepublic's standalone AI Productivity Suite price of $10 per user per month, and Zoom's ZoomMate starting price of $20 per user per month. Arithmetic: 20 − 10 = $10 per user per month. That $10 is the published gap between "the suite that drafts slides and sheets" and "the ZoomMate SKU that also sells agentic search, workflows, and agents," if both list prices hold on your quote.

Separately, Zoom's suite page allots 1,000 credits on the suite SKU and 2,200 credits on ZoomMate. Arithmetic: 2,200 − 1,000 = 1,200 extra included credits on the ZoomMate SKU. If you treat the $10 gap as the price of those extra credits, 1,200 ÷ 10 = 120 included credits per extra dollar. That ratio uses only Zoom-published and TechRepublic-reported list figures. It is not your overage rate, not a Deep Research cost, and not a reason to turn on "Always allow."

A 3-person shop at list: 3 × $20 = $60 per month for ZoomMate versus 3 × $10 = $30 for the suite alone. That $30 delta is list math, not a forecast of credits burned.

What a small operator should turn on first

If you are not already on Zoom Workplace, ZoomMate is not your project. If you cannot name who may update Salesforce after a sales call, do not connect Salesforce. If you cannot name who may open a ServiceNow incident from chat, do not connect ServiceNow.

A useful first test is one queue: after a client or dispatch meeting, let ZoomMate draft the recap and the CRM note, and require a person to click send or save. Keep quotes, contracts, diagnoses, and invoice posts on a human path.

Teams already routing post-meeting documents through US Tech Automations workflows can treat a ZoomMate draft as another event: if a Salesforce update is proposed, open a review task; if a follow-up email is drafted, attach the source transcript; if a ticket is opened, require the named owner. Zoom remains the meeting. The CRM remains the book.

For the wider operating picture, see five ways to automate executive-assistant tasks and the state of small-business automation. Shops comparing form-to-CRM tools should use the same approver for a web form and a ZoomMate Salesforce update.

US Tech Automations can watch those four outcomes and open the exception queue when a ZoomMate job fails a rule. It should not be the party that decides whether a quoted price is real.

Honest limits

ZoomMate does not replace Salesforce, ServiceNow, or your books. Credits are pooled and expire monthly. North America went first. Agents were not on the 1 June day-one SKU in heise's reporting. On-prem at launch is speech, not the full agent. "Always allow" removes the human checkpoint. Do not paste Zoom's 3–6 hours or 72% figures into a staffing plan.

Signal vs Speculation

Sourced signal: Zoom launched ZoomMate on 1 June 2026 at $20 per user per month with included credits for North America. Aragon Research on 12 June 2026 described ZoomMate agents plus on-prem AI. Zoom on 22 June 2026 added prompt-built agents in Chat and On-Prem transcription in four languages. TechRepublic reported a $10 standalone suite. No Jitter reported 2,200 credits and a 1 June Custom AI Companion sunset. Zoom's Q4 FY26 AI Companion MAUs more than tripled. Zoom's 500-person study reports 3–6 hours and 72% versus 63%.

Our read: over 12–36 months, more collaboration vendors will sell "the meeting finishes the ticket." The operators who benefit will list allowed jobs — draft the recap, propose the CRM note — and keep quotes, legal language, and ledger posts on a person. The operators who get hurt will turn on Always allow, connect the whole Drive, and treat 2,200 credits as a flat fee.

Our read for smaller teams: if you have two trucks or ten people, start with draft-only follow-ups from one meeting type. Do not start with unattended Salesforce writes. A two-person shop cannot absorb a silent bad quote the way a 20-person sales desk can.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is ZoomMate?

It is Zoom's paid agentic work surface inside Zoom Workplace. As of June 2026, Zoom says it searches across Zoom and connected systems, orchestrates follow-up tasks, and drafts documents, slides, and sheets from meeting context.

Is ZoomMate the same as AI Companion?

No. Zoom's 24 June explainer says Companion-style summaries and compose stay built into Workplace, and ZoomMate is the agentic product that tries to complete the work. No Jitter reported Zoom sunset Custom AI Companion on 1 June 2026; confirm the SKU on your tenant.

Does the $20 price include unlimited agent runs?

No. Zoom and No Jitter describe a hybrid seat-plus-credits model. ZoomMate includes 2,200 credits per user per month on Zoom's product pages; metered actions consume credits, and unused monthly credits do not roll over.

Can a clinic or HVAC shop run this on-prem?

Zoom AI On-Prem is a Node add-on aimed at regulated enterprises. At the 22 June launch it processed captions and transcription in four languages on customer infrastructure. Agentic search on that page is coming soon. It is not a small-shop default.

Will ZoomMate update Salesforce without a person?

Zoom says orchestration can update records and that agents work within existing permissions. Zoom's admin article also describes an Always allow mode that skips approval. Require a demonstration on a least-privilege user before you treat it as a posting engine.

When did independent coverage land?

Aragon Research published on 12 June 2026. TechRepublic and heise published on 2 June 2026. No Jitter published on 26 June 2026. Zoom's own launch is 1 June 2026.

What to keep off the unattended path

Do not let ZoomMate send a priced proposal, change a contract, post an invoice, or file a clinical note without a named approver. Do not enable Always allow on day one. If you are not on Zoom, wait. If you cannot explain a sent email from a transcript, do not let an agent send it.

When the allowed jobs are listed and the approver is named, wire the exception path so a ZoomMate draft still produces a reviewable event. US Tech Automations belongs on that review path, not in the price decision.
