Datacenter cranes and buildings in FAA notices

Before a crane goes up near an airport, somebody has to file a notice with the FAA and say what it is for. 35 open cases say datacenter in their own words. We keep a dated copy of that list, so you get the ones that appeared, the ones the FAA moved along, and the ones that stopped being on the open list since the copy before.

What this page is139 rows held · newest sealed read 2026-08-21

  • Anyone putting up something tall near an airport has to tell the FAA first, including the crane that builds it. On 21 Aug 2026 there were 35 open cases whose own text says datacenter, across 9 states.
  • Between 1 Aug 2026 and 21 Aug 2026, 10 of those notices were new, 4 were moved along by the FAA, and 9 were no longer on the open list. The file does not say why any of those 9 left it.
  • We hold 139 dated datacenter rows, out of 26,306 open FAA cases in the newest copy.
  • We have sealed 4 copies of the FAA file, from 10 Jul 2026 to 21 Aug 2026.
  • A crane notice is the earliest public sign of a build. It usually turns up before any planning story does.

Real rows out of our sealed copies

These are rows we read out of dated copies we keep ourselves. The live source shows today only, so once a row moves, what it said before is gone from the place you would go to look.

What this page cannot tell you

  • We find these by reading the FAA's own words. A notice counts only if the description or the structure name says datacenter. A project described some other way is not on this page, and we are not going to guess which ones those are.
  • One project files several notices, one for each point a crane can reach, so the same site name can appear more than once. The case numbers are different, so those are real separate notices, not copies. And a notice is a request to put something up. It is not proof anything was built.
  • We read the FAA file every 16 days or so, not daily. The comparison on this page is 1 Aug 2026 against 21 Aug 2026.
  • A case leaving the FAA's open list is not a decision and we do not sell it as one. The open file stops carrying the row and never says why. Approved, withdrawn, expired and sent back for more information all look exactly the same from outside, so we say the case left the open list and nothing more.
  • We compare the two newest copies and never the oldest one. Our first copy, 10 Jul 2026, was a wider pull: it carries 4,338 cases opened before 5 Jan 2026, and no copy since holds them. Comparing against it would print thousands of cases as having left the open list when all that changed is what we asked the FAA for.
  • The FAA fills in its final decision on 1,320 of 26,306 open cases and names who is behind the notice on 1,428. Most open cases carry neither, so those columns are not on this page.

You do not have to take our word for what is in the file. Here are 25 rows of the real thing, carrying all 12 of its columns, cut out of the dated copies we sealed ourselves. Nothing in it is made up and nothing in it is tidied up.

  • Open the 25 rows as a CSVA plain spreadsheet file. It saves to your machine rather than painting itself into a browser tab, and it opens in Excel, Numbers or Google Sheets.
  • The same 25 rows as JSONThe same rows again, laid out for reading with code.

Nothing on this page is for sale. The sample file is free to read, and so is every row on the page above it.

These 25 rows are a slice of the file, not the whole of it. What we cannot show you here is how far back it goes: the file goes back further than these rows do.

No pay button on this one yet. Email operations@ustechautomations.com. We are not charging for this feed. A monthly price is a promise that a new file turns up next month, and we are not making that promise yet. What we will do now is show you the file. The sample below is 25 real rows off dated copies we sealed ourselves, and every one of them names a datacenter in the agency's own words -- 4 Texas air permits waiting on a decision, and 21 FAA notices for the buildings and cranes going up at named datacenter sites. Name the campuses or the counties you follow. We reply with which of our dated copies mention them at all, before you spend anything.

We hold 45 dated copies, from 10 Jul 2026 to 29 Aug 2026, and they are not one list: the Texas permit list 44 to 29 Aug 2026; the Arizona permit list 33 to 13 Aug 2026; the FAA notices 4 to 21 Aug 2026; the Georgia docket 43 to 29 Aug 2026. The sample file on this page is real and free to read. There is nothing to buy yet.
