Jobvite vs iCIMS Hiring Choice for Talent Teams 2026

Oct 12, 2026

Jobvite and iCIMS are both still on sale

An applicant tracking system is the software record of jobs, applicants, and hiring stages from the first application through a hire. The decision in front of a head of talent is which of these two records the recruiting team will live in, and which surrounding modules the quote actually includes. Jobvite was not renamed and it was not discontinued. On February 24, 2022, Jobvite, JazzHR, and NXTThing RPO began operating as brands of a new parent, Employ Inc. On August 5, 2022, Employ added Lever and said the brands would keep operating under their own names. Employ customers: 18,000+ according to Jobvite (2022), together with a network of 1,200 partners, 3.1 million open jobs, and 500 million candidates. That 2022 figure is the combined Employ portfolio, covering JazzHR, Lever, Jobvite, and NXTThing RPO. It is not a 2026 count of Jobvite alone.

iCIMS was not renamed either. The product site still sells an enterprise applicant tracking system and groups the broader offer as iCIMS Hire, iCIMS Engage, and iCIMS Employer Branding. Ownership sits with private-equity backers. Vista Equity Partners and TA Associates announced on August 22, 2022 that TA's investment in iCIMS had closed, with Susquehanna Growth Equity remaining a shareholder. iCIMS customers: 4,000+ according to Vista Equity Partners (2022), and that release said those customers employed more than 34 million people and included 40% of the Fortune 100. Treat both customer counts as 2022 ownership context, not as this year's market share.

TL;DR: keep Jobvite on the shortlist when the team wants a core applicant tracking system plus named add-ons such as referrals, onboarding, and recruitment marketing, and keep iCIMS on the shortlist when the team wants a configurable enterprise system with text recruiting, career sites, and a large partner list. Neither vendor published a dollar price on the pages reviewed for this guide. The score gap on one review site is too small to settle the contract.

Key Takeaways

  • Jobvite still sells under that name as an Employ brand, beside JazzHR, Lever, and NXTThing RPO. The August 5, 2022 release did not retire the product.

  • iCIMS still sells an enterprise applicant tracking system, presented with Engage and Employer Branding. A public pricing path on the iCIMS site returned a page-not-found response on the research date.

  • Both list prices are Quote-based. Pricing checked October 10, 2026. Any dollar figure you hear in a sales cycle should be matched to named modules in the order form.

  • Capterra lists Jobvite at 4.1/5 from 567 reviews and iCIMS at 4.3/5 from 824 reviews. A fifth of a point is not a scope match.

  • Price Jobvite when employee referrals and a modular applicant tracking system are the daily work. Price iCIMS when text recruiting, EEO reporting, and a wide partner list are in the hiring plan.

  • A status change, an offer file, or a referral reward still needs a named person to approve it before anything is written to payroll, a signature tool, or the HR system.

Who this comparison is for

This comparison is for a head of talent at a mid-size company who already knows the category and is close to a choice. You have recruiters in the product every day, hiring managers who must approve offers, and a finance partner who will ask what the quote does not include. It is also for the talent-operations lead who will own stages, templates, and the handoff into the HR system after go-live. If you are still framing the category, start with how a recruiting team picks an applicant tracking system and a practical way to narrow an ATS shortlist, then come back to the module and ownership questions below.

Red flags: you require a published price list before any sales conversation, because neither vendor provided one on the pages opened for this guide. Nobody on the talent team can own workflow administration after launch. IT will not allow an API credential or a scheduled export, which blocks any later handoff out of the system of record.

How we evaluated these tools

The weights below are buying weights for this reader. They are not vendor scores, not review averages, and not a test of the software. We used public pages only: each vendor's own site, Jobvite's pricing page, iCIMS's applicant-tracking product page, the 2022 ownership releases, Capterra review totals, and one independent write-up that checked iCIMS against vendor documentation. We did not run either product, and we did not invent customers, quotes, or time studies.

Daily recruiter workflow carries the most weight because a mid-size team feels stage design, approvals, and scheduling every morning. Module scope is next because both companies sell a core and then more, and the painful invoice is the module that shows up after the verbal "yes." Ownership and continuity matter because Jobvite's parent also sells other recruiting brands, and iCIMS's backers are a separate set of investors. CRM, referrals, and sourcing sit beside compliance and the onboarding handoff, since those are the motions that spill out of a basic tracker. Integration and API access is the practical bridge to the rest of the HR stack. Published price clarity is the lightest weight on purpose: both vendors withhold a rate card, so the criterion separates them from tools that print a price more than it separates them from each other.

CriterionWeightPriority rank
Daily recruiter workflow22%1
Module scope inside the quote18%2
Ownership and product continuity15%3
CRM, referrals, and sourcing15%4
Compliance and onboarding handoff12%5
Integration and API access10%6
Published price clarity8%7

The seven weights sum to 100%. A product that is pleasant in a demo and vague about referrals, text, onboarding, or the API loses on the heavier rows even if a review score looks close. A product with a clear module list still loses if no one on your team can administer it. LeadChange's October 6, 2026 review is useful as a scope check on one vendor only. Capabilities verified: 11 of 12 according to LeadChange (2026), with quote-only pricing recorded, onboarding described as covering Form I-9 with E-Verify, and SOC 2 Type II plus ISO/IEC 27001:2022 reported as listed by the vendor. The unverified row in that check was records retention and the audit trail, so ask iCIMS to show that control in writing if your counsel requires it. We did not find an equivalent public capability count for Jobvite in the pages opened for this guide.

Ratings you can check without a sales call

Review totals are a signal of how many people bothered to write, and of the average they left. They are not proof that a mid-size team will finish implementations faster, and they are not a feature matrix. Use them to spot a pattern, then go back to the module list.

Overall score (out of 5)4.14.3

Jobvite rating: 4.1/5 according to Capterra (2026), across 567 reviews, with ease of use at 4.1 and customer service at 4.0 on that same reviews page, last updated September 16, 2026. iCIMS rating: 4.3/5 according to Capterra (2026), from 824 reviews, with 87% positive, 9% neutral, and 4% negative on the overview last updated September 17, 2026. The overall gap is 0.2 points. iCIMS has 257 more reviews on these pages. That volume supports "many enterprise users have used it." It does not tell you whether text recruiting, referrals, or onboarding is in your quote.

Read the scores next to ownership. Jobvite's parent told the market in 2022 that it served more than 18,000 customers across four brands. iCIMS's 2022 release said more than 4,000 customers. Comparing those two numbers as if they were the same kind of install base will mislead a buying committee. One is a multi-brand portfolio figure. The other is an iCIMS figure. Both are four years old relative to this guide.

Pricing checked against the public pages

Pricing checked October 10, 2026. Jobvite's pricing page asks for a quote. It says you start with the core applicant tracking system and add modules such as Onboarding, AI Companion, and recruitment marketing software. The same page lists an AI Interview Companion, an Onboarding module that names I-9 and E-Verify work, and Advanced Employee Referrals. No dollar amount appears. iCIMS does not publish a rate card on the product pages opened for this guide, and the public pricing path returned a page-not-found response. LeadChange's independent check also records iCIMS as quote-only. Both commercial models are therefore Quote-based. Do not budget from a blog estimate, a review-site starting price, or a number recalled from an old contract. Ask each seller for a written quote tied to modules.

A first-year total is the subscription quote plus implementation plus every module you turn on, and neither vendor printed those pieces. When you compare two quotes, line them up on the same motions: professional requisitions, hourly hiring, internal moves, employee referrals, text messaging, offer letters, onboarding forms, and the HR-system handoff. If one quote includes text and the other treats a similar channel as an add-on, the lower headline is not the lower cost. If a seller offers a sibling Employ brand instead of Jobvite, that is a different product and a different quote. JazzHR, Lever, and Jobvite were still described as separate brands in the 2022 release.

The buying differences that show up in a quote

The matrix stays inside pages opened for this guide. "Not stated" means the page did not say, which is a question for the seller, not a claim that the capability is absent from the product.

Two rows decide more mid-size shortlists than the review scores do. Referrals are a named Jobvite module, which matters if employees are a real source. See referral tracking for recruiting teams for the operational questions that module still leaves you, including who confirms eligibility before a reward is recorded. Text recruiting is named under iCIMS Hire and was not named on the Jobvite pricing page we opened, so a team that lives in SMS should make Jobvite show the channel in the quote before treating it as included. Offer templates and approval chains are described on the iCIMS applicant-tracking page. Jobvite's pricing FAQ does not name offer management as its own module. Ask anyway, because offer letters are where a tracker becomes a commitment.

Named dashboards: 60+ according to Jobvite (2025), on a pricing FAQ that also says the career site is meant to convert 3x more applicants. Both lines are Jobvite's own claims, read again on October 10, 2026, not an independent measurement. The 750+ figure is on the iCIMS product page, cited properly in the iCIMS profile below, alongside a marketplace of more than 300 products and a stated technical-support availability of 99.9%.

An illustrative week of application handling

The figures in this section are a paper example for a talent leader sizing the handoff. They are not a customer result, not a vendor benchmark, and not a test.

Illustration stepApplicationsMinutes
New applications in the sample week1505 each
Full manual status copy150750
Exception review at 20%30150
Difference versus full copy120600

Take an illustrative week for a mid-size talent team with 36 open jobs and 150 new applications. A coordinator who spends 5 minutes copying each application status into a side tracker uses 150 times 5 minutes, which is 750 minutes, or 12.5 hours. A configurable flow can read iCIMS recruiting workflows and keep the rows whose applicantworkflow.job.id matches the open-job list, using the search-filter name shown in the iCIMS developer community. If a recruiter reviews only the 20% that need a judgment, that is 30 applications times 5 minutes, or 150 minutes, which is 2.5 hours. The difference on this paper example is 600 minutes, or 10 hours, and the other 120 applications stay in the system of record until a person moves them. Prerequisites are the customer's API access and a job-id list the talent-operations owner maintains. A person still approves any offer, signature request, or HR-system write. Nothing in the arithmetic is a promise about your week.

Jobvite profile: fit, limits, and setup

Jobvite fits a mid-size or complex hiring team that wants one applicant tracking system and is willing to add modules only when the quote names them. The pricing page describes the product as built for complex hiring and for talent teams with regulated or otherwise complicated compliance needs. The core is candidate management. Around it, the public page names a CRM for multi-touch campaigns, AI-powered candidate matching, an AI Interview Companion, recruitment marketing, a career site, analytics, onboarding with I-9 and E-Verify on the module card, and Advanced Employee Referrals. That referral module is the clearest public difference versus the iCIMS pages opened here. If employees already send you qualified applicants, put the referral rules, the reward, and the confirmation step in the Jobvite quote before you compare totals.

The limits are commercial and organizational. The price is Quote-based, so a demo cannot answer the finance question. Modules are how the bill grows, and the pricing FAQ is explicit that you add Onboarding, AI Companion, and recruitment marketing as needed. The career-site "3x" line and the 60+ dashboards are vendor claims on that FAQ. Confirm the dashboards you will actually open, such as source of hire, time in stage, and referral yield, instead of buying the count. Employ also sells JazzHR and Lever. The 2022 release said Lever was aimed at companies moving beyond small business into the mid-market and beyond, while Jobvite continued as its own brand. Ask the seller which brand they are quoting, what a later move between brands would require, and whether your data export is part of the contract. The more-than-18,000 customer line from 2022 should not be repeated in a board slide as Jobvite's current install base.

Implementation scope was not priced and not scheduled on the public page. Ask for a written plan that covers stage design, approval chains, the career site, job distribution, referral rules, the onboarding forms you need, admin training, and the HR-system handoff. Ask who configures changes after go-live, your administrator or Employ's services team, and how API credentials are issued if you later connect a signature tool or the HR system. Header-based API credentials are the current pattern described in Jobvite's help materials for Hire and Engage. Put the credential owner and the rotation practice in the project plan. A team that cannot name that owner will feel the product as a pile of modules rather than a daily workspace.

Choose Jobvite when the recruiting week is professional and mid-volume hiring, employee referrals are a real source, and you want onboarding paperwork named in the same quote without jumping to a separate enterprise suite. Walk away from this brand when the seller cannot show text recruiting in the order form and your hourly hiring depends on SMS, or when you are being steered to Lever or JazzHR under the same parent without a fresh scope review. Those sibling products may be the right buy. They are not the product this comparison priced in public, because neither of them had a dollar figure on a page we could treat as Jobvite's rate card. Jobvite's rate card was not public either.

iCIMS profile: fit, limits, and setup

iCIMS fits an enterprise or high-volume talent team that will staff an administrator and wants the hiring record, the nurture record, and the career site available as a set. The applicant-tracking page describes templates for jobs, emails, and offer letters, approval chains, @mentions, job-board distribution, candidate ranking, email or text or video contact, interview templates, candidate self-scheduling, and SMS interview invites. Dashboards can be tailored by login group, role, or person. Reporting on that page includes time to fill, time to hire, scheduled executive reports, and EEO data. The same page says the wider platform supports internal mobility. Engage is the candidate-experience and relationship product. Employer Branding covers career sites, a digital assistant, and video testimonials. That split is the practical quote structure: Hire can be necessary and still not include the career site or the nurture campaigns you saw in the demo.

Partner connections: 750+ according to iCIMS (2026), and that page also says the marketplace offers more than 300 products and that technical support availability is 99.9%. The FAQ names common HR connections including Workday, SAP SuccessFactors, ADP, Oracle, and UKG, and says the applicant tracking system can move data both ways with most HCM or payroll vendors. Common does not mean contracted. Ask for the specific connector, the direction of the data, and whether the new-hire file is in scope. Offer packets that leave the tracker for signature are a separate step. Connecting iCIMS to a signature step is a useful checklist for that boundary, and it does not replace the module list in your quote.

The limits start with price opacity. The commercial model is Quote-based, and the public pricing path did not resolve to a rate card on October 10, 2026. The product page is written for global enterprises, high-volume hiring, and highly specialized roles. A mid-size team can still be a fit, but you should assume configuration work and a named admin, not a weekend setup. The more-than-4,000 customer figure and the 40% Fortune 100 line are from August 22, 2022. Do not present them as a 2026 census. LeadChange left records retention unverified, so privacy counsel should ask for the retention schedule directly. The 4.3/5 Capterra score from 824 reviews, with 87% positive, shows a large reviewed base and also a 4% negative share. Read negative reviews for administration load before you treat the average as comfort.

Implementation was not given a public fee or a public calendar. The applicant-tracking page says customers can change the system without waiting on support, and that support is still there, with phone or online technical support at the stated 99.9% availability. "You can change it" and "you have the people to change it" are different sentences. Ask who builds approval chains, offer templates, EEO fields, text templates, and the HR handoff during the project, and who owns them in month six. AI features on the page, including candidate suggestions and ranking, are described as something the team can turn up or down. Confirm that control in the contract if your policy requires a human decision on every advance. AI Talent Explorer and similar extras should be marked included or extra in the quote. We did not find a public dollar add-on for them.

Choose iCIMS when you need text recruiting, offer approvals, EEO reporting, self-scheduling, and a deep partner list, and when you can name the administrator. Choose a different conversation when the team is small, referrals are the main source and iCIMS has not put a referral module in the quote, or you need a price on a web page before you will take a call. In that last case both vendors in this guide fail the test, and a tracker with a public rate card belongs on a different shortlist.

The handoff after the ATS decision

Picking the system of record does not move the offer, the new-hire file, or the referral reward. Those steps still break between the tracker and the rest of the stack. A proposed, configurable workflow starts when an iCIMS recruiting workflow changes status. US Tech Automations reads the change through the customer's API credentials, keeps rows whose applicantworkflow.job.id is on the open-job list, and writes a review queue. The output is a row a recruiter approves before any offer file, signature request, or HR-system write. Prerequisites are API permission for that iCIMS customer, a job-id list maintained by talent operations, and a named reviewer. This is a design you can configure. It is not a live deployment and it is not a measured result.

A second proposed US Tech Automations flow watches a hired stage on a referred candidate in Jobvite. It checks that a referral source is present and that Advanced Employee Referrals is actually in the contract, then parks the reward until a coordinator confirms the hire date against the eligibility rule. The output is an approved reward row or an exception row. It does not send a payout. Prerequisites are Jobvite API credentials for that customer and a written referral rule. A person reviews the row before anyone records a payment. The design is configurable, and it does not describe a current customer.

The reader's other real option is to stitch the same handoff in Zapier, Make, or n8n, or to build it in-house. Those tools can support run histories, retries, error branches, and audit evidence when a buyer configures them. The buyer then owns observability, idempotency, escalation, access control, and maintenance. A proposed US Tech Automations design can store one idempotency key per workflow event so a retried status change does not open a second review task, and it can hold the HR write until the named reviewer clears it. Prerequisites are the same API or export access and a field map both sides agree on. The split is who maintains the guardrails after the first build, not a claim that one path has already saved a measured number of hours.

Mistakes that show up after the contract

  • Quoting Employ's more than 18,000 customers from 2022 as if it were Jobvite's 2026 install base, or quoting iCIMS's more than 4,000 customers from 2022 as if it were this year's census.

  • Comparing a Jobvite quote for the core applicant tracking system with an iCIMS quote that includes text, career sites, and onboarding, then calling the smaller number the cheaper system.

  • Assuming referrals, SMS, CRM, offer letters, and onboarding are inside the base because a demo showed them. On these public pages they are named in different places, and some are not named at all.

  • Treating the Capterra gap, 4.3/5 from 824 reviews versus 4.1/5 from 567 reviews, as the decision. The gap is 0.2 points. Module fit will move more cost and more recruiter time than that gap.

  • Letting a retry create a second offer task or a second referral reward. Whatever tool sits above the tracker, a repeated event needs a key and a person.

  • Accepting a switch from Jobvite to Lever or JazzHR mid-conversation without re-scoring the weights above. Same parent company, different product.

A checklist before you request quotes

Use this list in the meeting before either seller builds a proposal. It keeps the conversation on scope.

  • Write the motions for the next two quarters: professional roles, hourly volume, internal moves, referrals, and campus or event hiring if you do them.

  • Ask each seller to mark every motion as included, add-on, or absent, in writing.

  • Confirm the legal seller. Jobvite is the Employ brand. iCIMS is iCIMS, with Vista and TA in the 2022 ownership picture and Susquehanna still a shareholder at that time.

  • Put API access or a scheduled export in the order form if you expect offers, hires, or rewards to leave the tracker.

  • Name the person who may approve an offer, a new-hire file, and a referral reward. A queue without that name is a parking lot.

  • Ask iCIMS for the retention and audit behavior your counsel needs, because an independent check left that row unverified, and ask Jobvite which of the 60+ claimed dashboards you will actually receive.

  • Reject any dollar figure that is not on the seller's quote. Public list price for both products in this guide is Quote-based.

Where either ATS is already enough

US Tech Automations is the wrong extra layer when the team hires few enough people that a coordinator can update the HR record by hand, when the tracker's own templates and stage rules already send the messages the team needs, or when IT will not issue API credentials or a file export. In those cases the applicant tracking system you already run is the simpler tool, whether that system is Jobvite, iCIMS, or something smaller. A single stage notification built in Zapier, Make, or n8n is also enough when a person on staff owns the retries, the access, and the log. Adding a second product over a working tracker creates a review queue nobody opens.

Questions to settle before you choose

Is Jobvite discontinued or renamed?

No. Jobvite still sells under that name. Employ Inc. became the parent in 2022 and later added Lever, and the August 5, 2022 release said JazzHR, Lever, Jobvite, and NXTThing RPO would continue as separate brands. Ask the seller to name Jobvite on the quote so you are not silently moved to a sibling product.

Does either vendor publish a dollar price?

No. Both are Quote-based on the pages reviewed for this guide. Jobvite's pricing page offers a quote and describes a core applicant tracking system plus modules. The iCIMS pricing path returned a page-not-found response, and an independent October 6, 2026 review also calls iCIMS quote-only. Pricing checked October 10, 2026.

Which one fits a mid-size talent team?

Jobvite is the closer public fit when referrals, a modular applicant tracking system, and onboarding paperwork are the work you must fund. iCIMS is the closer public fit when you need text recruiting, offer approvals, self-scheduling, EEO reporting, and a partner list counted in the hundreds, and you can staff an administrator. If your week is only a handful of professional hires, both may be heavier than the work.

Are the review scores enough to decide?

No. Capterra shows 4.1/5 from 567 Jobvite reviews and 4.3/5 from 824 iCIMS reviews. The 0.2 point gap and the 87% positive share on the iCIMS overview do not tell you which modules are in the contract. Use the scores as a reputation check, then score the weighted criteria with your own motions.

What should the order form say about modules?

It should list every motion as included, add-on, or absent, with the implementation work and the API or export called out. For Jobvite, that list should call out referrals, onboarding, the CRM, recruitment marketing, and the AI Interview Companion if you expect them. For iCIMS, it should call out Hire, Engage, Employer Branding, text, onboarding, and any AI extra. A demo screenshot is not a line item.

Can Zapier, Make, or n8n handle the handoff?

Yes, if you configure them and then own them. They can keep run history, retries, error branches, and an audit trail. You still design idempotency, escalation, access control, and maintenance so a repeated status event does not create a second offer or a second reward. A governed queue with a named reviewer is the alternative when nobody on staff wants that ownership. Either way, a person approves the write into the HR system.

Should we treat the 2022 customer counts as current?

No. Employ's more than 18,000 customers, 1,200 partners, 3.1 million open jobs, and 500 million candidates are from the August 5, 2022 release and cover more than Jobvite. iCIMS's more than 4,000 customers, more than 34 million people employed by those customers, and 40% of the Fortune 100 are from the August 22, 2022 release. Ask each vendor for a current reference in your size and industry instead of recycling those lines.

What to do with the answer

Decide the system of record first. If referrals and a modular tracker dominate the next two quarters, take the Jobvite quote and make every add-on a line. If text, offer control, EEO reporting, and a wide integration list dominate, take the iCIMS quote and mark Hire, Engage, and Employer Branding separately. Ignore any price that is not on those quotes. After the tracker is chosen, design the handoff so a status change becomes a review row, not an unattended write to payroll or a signature tool. For that layer, see how US Tech Automations configures this. Bring the seller a module list, an API question, and the name of the person who approves an offer. That is the whole decision this search was asking for.
