16,658 distinct events in 19,798 sealed rows across 68 daily copies of the USGS all_day feed, 2026-06-23 to 2026-09-06 · USGS overwrites that feed every day and revises events in place, so this dated archive cannot be reconstructed from any public source, including USGS.
Of the 3,140 events we sealed more than once — the only events in which a revision is detectable at all — 404 came back with a published field changed, and 360 had the magnitude or the review status itself revised. 1 of those revisions moved a magnitude across M3.5. See what changed →
What this archive is, exactly. The USGS all_day feed holds the last 24 hours and is overwritten in place. We seal one dated copy of it per day. An event that appeared in the feed and was superseded between two of our seals is not in this archive at all. These pages are a record of what USGS asserted at each seal — they are not a complete catalogue of earthquakes, and nothing here should be read as one.
Days we did not seal. 68 seals span 76 calendar days, so these days inside the span have no sealed copy: 2026-07-04, 2026-07-15, 2026-08-14, 2026-08-15, 2026-08-16, 2026-08-17, 2026-08-22, 2026-08-23. A missing day means we did not read the feed. It does not mean nothing happened, and those dates return a 404 here rather than a page reading zero.
One seal is wider than the others. How a state is assigned, and when it is not. USGS puts the region after the last comma of the place string. We map that tail from an explicit table only: 15,101 of 16,658 events resolve to one of 29 US state or territory codes. The rest are counted and left unassigned — 1,319 carry a tail outside the US (Mexico, Japan, Chile and so on), 235 carry a region descriptor with no comma at all ("off the coast of Oregon"), and 3 carry a tail that names both a US state and a country. We do not guess which.
